On 10th February 2015 a validation workshop was organised in Italy on the digital competence certification process for home care workers proposed by CARER+.
The organisations represented in the workshop were 2 municipalities (Bologna and Casalecchio di Reno), a public utility for the provision of social care services including home care (ASP Città di Bologna), and AIAS Bologna onlus, a not-for-profit organisation which is the Italian reference organisation for the European Care Certificate (a basic entry certificate in the care sector developed during three LLP projects from 2008 to 2014). All the invited organisations are significantly involved in the theme of quality and improvement of home care with special reference to the professionalization of home care work provided by private carers.
The participants were impressed by the huge effort devoted by the CARER+ partners to the definition of the digital competence framework. Particular interest was raised by the set of enabling competences which recognises to the carer a role of facilitator mediating between the technology and the care recipient in order to ease acceptance.
