27/11/2014 - A visit to the Handimatica exhibition in Bologna, Italy

During the CARER+ policy visit to Italy the guest delegations from latvia and Spain visited the HANDImatica 2014 exhibition organised by ASPHI, a non-profit organization which has been working for 30 years on ICT and disability pursuing the aim of improving disabled people’s participation in life through the use of ICT. 
Cristina Manfredini, training manager at ASPHI, and Nicola Gencarelli, IT manager at ASPHI, briefly presented the organization and then showed the visitors some examples of ICT-based activities and projects developed for application in homes for the elderly.
The focus is on maintaining the patient’s residual abilities at both physical and mental level by stimulating memory and recognition. Games for cognitive stimulation and support to reminiscence through the creation of digital life stories made up with photos, videos, music, and maps helping the patients to locate their childhood home and places and see how they have changed through the years.
