Thanks to Eurocarers, the project consortium was invited to the First formal meeting of the European Parliament Interest Group on Carers in the new Parliament with a focus on The Social Protection Committee report on long term care in the European Parliament on 15 October 2014.
The aims of the Interest Group are:

Following this brief introduction, the co-chairs underlined the aim of this first meeting, i.e.
To provide information on the background and content of the Social Protection Committee report on long term care for older people as well as planned next steps within this context;
To discuss the report with members of the Social Protection Committee and Commission as well as with relevant stakeholders;
To explore the possibilities for further action and concrete policy initiatives;
To re-establish the Interest Group on Carers as well as cooperation with the SPC.
Reference was made to the Carer+ project, with pilots in 5 countries; its main objective is to develop digital competences of care workers to improve the quality of life of older people.
