Latvian seniors receive Pan-European certificates proofing their ICT skills

During the 2014 Get Online Week (GOW) many seniors obtained their first e-skills trainings. Libraries, NGOs, municipal adult education centres and schools were eager to help both- those who made the "first click " and those who already had basic ICT knowledge and wanted to learn more.

In Latvia the senior training activities have a long history and a lot of support . One of the major projects is "Connect Latvia "  by Lattelecom.  Everyone  person from age of  50 could apply for free computer trainings, which took place throughout Latvia. More  than  20 000 seniors have been trained within this project in last 5 years.

Seniors, willing to get official, EU recognized certificate, had chance to pass e-Citizen tests . E-Citizen is specially  ECDL developed certification system for people with basic knowledge of computer and Internet.  This activity has been supported by LIKTA and EC in Latvia Representative office.

More than 40 seniors received official e-Citizen certificates, handed out by LIKTA president Signe  Balina and the  Head of the European Commission Representation in Latvia, Dr. Inna Steinbuka.
